Dubai: Dubai will send its second nanosatellite into space this month, the 6U nanosatellite is part of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority\’s (DEWA) SpaceD programme.

As per details, Deva has completed preparations to launch its second nano-satellite for remote sensing applications in April this month.

Deva\’s Satellite 2 will be launched by SpaceX\’s Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California, The satellite has been designed and developed at Deva\’s research and development center in collaboration with Nano Avionics of Lithuania.

The new satellite carries a high-resolution geological observation camera (4.7 m), which can provide continuous line-scan imaging in 7 spectral bands from an orbit of approximately 500 km.

The new satellite is also equipped with infrared instruments to measure greenhouse gases.

The combined use of Satellite 2 images and Internet of Things (IoT) measurements from Satellite 1 provides accurate estimates of Dewa seawater temperature, seawater salinity and power generation and operational efficiency of water desalination plants.

It may be recalled that in January 2022, Deva launched Deva Satellite 1 into space, which uses LoRa Internet of Things communication technology.
